  Frederick Mutual Insurance Fund Awards $7,700 in Grants

February 23, 2010: The Community Foundation of Frederick County’s Frederick Mutual Insurance Company Donor-Advised Fund recently awarded $7,700 in grants to 15 nonprofit organizations throughout Frederick County.

As a donor-advised fund, founding donor Frederick Mutual Insurance Company recommends which charitable causes to support, subject to the approval of the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Each year, grants are awarded to area nonprofits working in the fields of human services, education, and historic research.

Recent grants from The Frederick Mutual Insurance Company Donor-Advised Fund have been awarded to the following organizations: Advocates for Homeless Families; The Arc of Frederick County; The Community Foundation of Frederick County; The Historical Society of Frederick County; The Frederick Rescue Mission; Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County; Hospice of Frederick County; The Jefferson School; Maryland Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch; The Mental Health Association of Frederick County; The National Museum of Civil War Medicine; The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs; The Salvation Army; United Way of Frederick County; and The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County.

“It gives the directors, management and staff of Frederick Mutual Insurance Company a great deal of satisfaction to partner with The Community Foundation of Frederick County by providing the grants to such worthy nonprofit organizations,” said Kevin Filler, President and CEO. “The grants that are awarded help those who have needs and that is a corporate objective of Frederick Mutual.”
