Transcript Submission Deadline for Community Foundation Scholarships Extended for FCPS Students

January 23, 2009: The Community Foundation of Frederick County, along with Frederick County Public Schools, announces a change in the deadline for submitting the required high school transcript that supports the Community Foundation’s Universal Scholarship Application.

For FCPS graduating high school seniors only, the deadline for submitting the supporting FCPS transcript, which must include grades for the first semester as well as the senior year cumulative GPA, has been extended to February 27, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Transcripts do not need to be in a sealed envelope and can either be hand-delivered or mailed to The Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick.

There is no change in the Community Foundation’s deadline for submitting the Universal Comprehensive Scholarship Application itself. It remains February 15, 2009 for all applicants, including FCPS seniors.

The extension comes in response to a delay in the semester’s end due to a school snow closing in January that postponed final exams, said Marita Loose, FCPS spokesperson.

“We are grateful to the Community Foundation for accommodating the holdup in posting grades and computing grade point averages,” Ms. Loose said. “These scholarships open tremendous opportunities for local students to pursue their higher education dreams.”
