First Gina and Bob Taylor Scholarship Awarded to Tuscarora High School Graduate

August 10, 2009: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce that Emily Meagher, a 2009 graduate of Tuscarora High School, is the first recipient of The Gina and Bob Taylor Scholarship.

A member of both the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America, Emily also participated in Tuscarora High School’s marching and concert bands. She is a volunteer at the North Fork School of Equitation, a center for riding instruction in Jefferson, Maryland. Emily will study Business Management and Equine Studies at Delaware Valley College.

The Taylors created The Gina and Bob Taylor Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing an education in criminal justice, environmental conservation, finance, economics, and/or business. Bob has spent over 40 years in law enforcement, and Gina has spent more than 14 years in the investment and insurance industry and is now President of Taylor Financial, Inc. The Taylors feel passionate about their line of work, and wanted to provide scholarships to students eager to pursue their educational dreams.

“We are very pleased that the first scholarship has been awarded to such a deserving person,” said the Taylors.

By working with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to establish charitable funds that provide deserving students with scholarships, the Community Foundation is among the leading local resources to help students reach their educational goals. Since 1986, more than $22 million has been awarded in educational scholarships and grants to nonprofit organizations.
