The Jeffrey Hayek Memorial Fund was established by Jeff’s parents, Robin and Brian Hayek, to honor the memory of their son, who passed away from a clotting disorder in 2007 at the tender age of 10. Known for his enthusiasm for all things baseball, Jeff’s memory will live on through the Fund that will support nonprofit organizations that help to further youth baseball instruction and play in Frederick County as well as to create Jeffy’s Field, a “field of dreams” recreation league baseball diamond on the future campus of Evangelical Lutheran Church in southern Frederick County.

“An All-Star Night for Jeff silent auction is an appropriate way to honor Jeff’s memory, raise money for his Fund, and provide a special evening for those attending,” said the Hayeks. “Someday, Jeffy’s Field will become a ‘field of dreams’ diamond where kids will be eager to learn to play the sport Jeffy loved.”

Memorial funds are one of the many ways The Community Foundation of Frederick County transforms the unique charitable dreams of individuals, families and organizations into the reality of charitable funds supporting a range of worthy causes. Over one-fourth of the funds held by the Community Foundation honor the memories of deceased loved ones by continuing to touch lives in meaningful ways in their names. To date, the Community Foundation has provided more than $19 million in scholarships and grants throughout Frederick County.
