Community Foundation Now Accepting Grant Applications

August 14, 2008: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce that now through October 1, applications are being accepted for FY2009 grant funding.

With $236,000 available for this year’s grants, area 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, existing governmental agencies, newly formed groups temporarily addressing a need or creating an organization to answer an emerging community need, religious organizations proposing funding for non-sectarian activities, and long-standing community service or civic groups that are not a 501(c)(3) organization are all encouraged to apply.

Funding may be used for one-time purchases, capital expenditures, start-up costs for programs in existence less than three months at the time of application, health and human service needs, programs serving children and adults, historic preservation, non-sectarian programs of religious organizations, music appreciation and training, particular marketing efforts of area nonprofits, and quality of life programs for specific areas of Frederick County. Information about the 19 grant-giving funds is available on the Community Foundation Universal Comprehensive Grant Application, the only application needed to apply for any or all of the grants.
