Grants Available Through Community Foundation for Health and Hardship Needs

FREDERICK, MD – December 31, 2013: The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces three grant applications available on January 1, 2014for health needs and hardship situations.

The Health Fund for Frederick County Youth will provide up to $45,597 in grants to nonprofits providing servicesto Frederick County youth under the age of 18 who have extraordinary and/or life-threatening medical needs. Grants may support, but are not limited to, medical procedures, special equipment needs, or medical expenses not reimbursed or covered through insurance. A letter from the youth's current medical practitioner certifying that the medical need is indeed extraordinary and/or life threatening must be submitted, along with the current diagnosis, as a part of the application. This grant will not be paid directly to families or to individuals, but directly to vendors and/or to medical providers.

The Holly Hale Palmer Memorial Fund will provide up to $21,000 in grants to support nonprofits that help individuals with seizure disorders or individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Grants will not be paid directly to families or to individuals, but directly to the 501(c)(3) applying organization or approved medical providers.

The Secret Santa Fund will provide up to $1,173 in grants to nonprofits to benefit Frederick County, MD residents experiencing hardships where a small “hand-up” could positively change a dire situation. Grants will not be paid directly to families or individuals, but directly to the 501(c)(3) applying organization or approved vendors.
