First Dance Scholarship Presented from Thomas F. Waters Memorial Fund

Thomas Water first scholarship 12.6.13 23FREDERICK, MD –December 18, 2013: The first scholarship from The Thomas F. Waters Memorial Fund has been presented to Victoria Stanley. The fund is one of more than 640 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

Founded by Karen Waters and Joy Ellis, the fund honors the memory of Tom Waters, a well-known local dance instructor by providing grants and scholarships to promote dance and make dance accessible to all. It also supports programs addressing the needs of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.

For nine years Miss Stanley has studied ballet, jazz, contemporary and lyrical dance. “I am both very happy and honored to be the first person to receive this scholarship.” said Miss Stanley.

Charitable memorial funds are one of the many ways The Community Foundation of Frederick County helps individuals, families, and organizations honor the memory of deceased loved ones by continuing to positively impact lives through grants and scholarships.
