Compofelice Family Fund for Building Trades Established
FREDERICK, MD – February 2, 2017: In honor of a man dedicated to hard work, learning new skills and mentoring others, Susan C. Compofelice has established The Compofelice Family Fund for Building Trades in memory of her husband, Joseph M. Compofelice (pictured). The fund becomes one of more than 679 component funds managed by The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
Joseph Compofelice began learning to paint homes at the age of 12, and went on to acquire multiple building skills on the job. After serving in the Navy, his career in the government began at the Department of Energy (DOE). His broad knowledge, his ongoing quest for perfection, and his motivation to continually learn new skills enabled Joe to advance to the position of Project Manager at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Grants from the fund may be used to provide a helping hand to those pursuing careers in the building trades, including mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and other skills. Funds may be used to pay for training, educational materials, certification fees, transportation costs, and helping to eliminate barriers that may prevent students from completing training.
