Sports Scholarship Fund Established in Memory of Luke Bartlett

FREDERICK, MD – December 2, 2016: To honor the compassionate heart and spirit of a young man whose life was taken much too soon, Keith andLukeBartlett.small Elizabeth Bartlett have established The Luke Clemens Bartlett Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund.

The fund becomes one of more than 679 component funds with The Community Foundation of Frederick County and will provide athletic scholarships for youth in kindergarten through grade 12 in the Frederick County, Maryland area, with preference given but not limited to those playing soccer and those with financial need.

Luke Bartlett, who lost his life in a car accident in September 2015, had a passion for all sports, and played soccer from the time he was in kindergarten, culminating with three years of varsity soccer at Oakdale High School. “Luke would bounce, kick, throw, and dribble any kind of ball since he was a toddler,” said Luke’s parents, Keith and Elizabeth Bartlett. “He also played baseball and basketball, and he participated in track and wrestling. We know Luke would have loved to help others embrace all sports without financial worry. This scholarship honors Luke’s compassion, competitiveness, giving, spirit and zest for life.”

Application information will be posted on the Community Foundation’s website when it becomes available. Please visit www.FrederickCountyGives.org/receive/scholarships for details.
