Sandra Crist Scholarship Fund Established at Community Foundation
FREDERICK, MD – March 31, 2016: The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces The Sandra Crist Scholarship Fund, established through Sandra Crist’s estate. The fund becomes one of more than 675 funds managed by The Community Foundation of Frederick County, and will provide scholarships to students pursuing a career dedicated to animal welfare.
Ms. Crist grew up on a farm and had a lifelong love of farming, animals, and agriculture. After graduating from Frederick High School, Ms. Crist attended Frederick Community College, graduated from Shepherd College, and attended Shippensburg State College. She was also a teacher at Hagerstown Junior College and Frederick High School until 1975. She continued her career working for People’s Life Insurance Company, Frederick County National Bank, and Nicklas, Prete and Sinton. Ms. Crist was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson, MD and played in the orchestra with the Yellow Springs concert band.
Many individuals carry out their charitable goals by establishing a legacy through the Community Foundation. More than 675 funds provide grants to nonprofits and/or scholarships to deserving students. Since its inception in 1986, the Community Foundation has invested $42 million back into the community because of generous donors who want to make positive impact in their community.
