Community Foundation Announces $1 Million Available in Scholarships; Online Application Opens March 30

FREDERICK, MD – March 24, 2016: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce that its scholarship application for the 2016-2017 academic year will be available beginning Wednesday, March 30, 2016. By completing one general application, students will be considered for scholarships from more than 250 funds. Scholarship money can be used to pay tuition, room and board, books, and other fees.

The completed application must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Only the electronic application submitted with all required attachments will be considered. Paper applications will not be accepted.

The application can be accessed through the Community Foundation website at Those intending to apply are encouraged to read the information posted on the scholarship page prior to March 30, and start preparing the required materials. Details about scholarship application training sessions will also be posted on this page.

Students about to complete their senior year of high school, students already enrolled in a trade school, college or university, and non-traditional students over the age of 21 are eligible to apply. Scholarship criteria are established by the scholarship funds’ founding donors. Some scholarships do not consider financial need. All students are encouraged to apply.

The Community Foundation of Frederick County is a recognized leader in providing scholarships to area students, made possible by generous donors who establish funds, or add to existing funds. For the 2015-2016 academic year alone, the Community Foundation provided more than $839,000 in scholarships to area students. All scholarship details are available at
