Lincoln Elementary School Track Construction Fund Announced
FREDERICK, MD – July 22, 2015: A new and improved all-purpose, all-weather running track will be taking shape throughout August at Lincoln Elementary School (LES) with the help of The Lincoln Elementary School Track Construction and Re-Surfacing Fund. The fund becomes one of more than 660 funds managed by The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
The track will enhance the general athletic program at Lincoln Elementary, providing students with an appropriate running surface and supporting fitness and exercise. In addition, it will be used by the Panther Running Club, an extracurricular activity that has grown to more than 70 students.
The fund is founded through Frederick County Public Schools, with Anne Light, Gregory Light, and Douglas Murphy, Panther Running Club coaches, as the organizing team behind the initiative. "Running teaches team work, responsibility, and respect for others," said Anne. "We see many students who participate improve academically and behaviorally, and who are eager to meet the goals set for them."
Kathryn Golightly, LES principal, also commented. "We are very excited to receive this amazing donation that will benefit the students, staff, and positively impact the community of our school."
The public is invited to support the track reconstruction by making a secure, online, tax-deductible gift to the fund at www.FrederickCountyGives.org/LEStrack. Donations received throughout August 2015 will support the track project directly; donations received after that time will support the activities of the LES Panther Running Club. Checks may be mailed to the Community Foundation, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland, 21701 with "LES Track" noted in the memo line.
