Judge Stepler's family said "This fund has been created to honor Mary Ann and her love of the law and the arts. She had a positive impact on Frederick County and the state of Maryland, and blazed the trail for women through her successful law career. As a well-rounded individual, she was very involved in both visual and performing arts. Our hope is that Mary Ann's legacy will carry on by providing financial assistance to students pursuing higher education in these fields."
