Athletic Scholarships Presented from Community Foundation Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund

FREDERICK, MD – May 14, 2015: Five youth received athletic scholarships totaling $3,000 from The Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund, one MuseAthleticScholars.resizedof more than 660 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Scholarships from the fund help students in grades 6 through 12 attend spring or summer sports activities or camps.

Loretta Donoghue, a student of Brunswick Middle School, will attend U.K. Elite Residential Soccer Camp this summer. Rachel Jarvis, a student from Tuscarora High School, will be part of the Maryland Mystics traveling softball team. Alexa Orlando, a student from Middletown Middle School, will participate in tennis instruction at Montgomery TennisPlex located in Boyds, MD. Myles Roberts, a student from Walkersville Middle School, will participate in basketball camp at Linganore High School and University of Maryland. Melissa Semkiw, a student from Oakdale High School, will participate in Frederick Starts Lacrosse Club and will attend Winthrop University Lacrosse Camp this summer.

The Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund was established by their parents, Pam Flickinger and Don Muse, with generous contributions from a community who wanted to honor the legacy of these two exceptional children who lost their lives at age 16 and 13 in a car accident nine years ago.

Charitable memorial funds are one of the many ways The Community Foundation of Frederick County helps individuals, families, and organizations honor the memory of deceased loved ones by continuing to positively impact lives through grants and scholarships.
